Samsung has introduced the W27 in China, adding another premium foldable smartphone to its W-series lineup. The device combines the hardware of Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with a more distinctive luxury design, gold-finished details and additional connectivity features for the Chinese market.

Announced on October 29, 2026, the W27 is positioned as a premium book-style foldable rather than a completely new hardware platform. Its large internal display, flagship Snapdragon processor and high-end camera system are designed for users looking for a large-screen smartphone in a more exclusive finish.

An 8-Inch Foldable Display

The Samsung W27 features an 8-inch internal Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and a 6.5-inch cover display.

Both screens support adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz, while Samsung lists peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. The larger internal screen provides additional space for multitasking, reading, video and applications designed for foldable devices.

The cover screen allows users to interact with the phone without unfolding it, making the device more practical for quick tasks.

Premium Two-Tone Design

The W27 stands out through its exterior design. Samsung offers the phone in Jihu Blue and Jixia Hong colour options, with gold-finished elements across the frame, hinge and rear camera area.

The design also features the W-series identity and a more decorative presentation than Samsung's standard foldable models.

The device weighs approximately 215 grams and measures around 8.9mm thick when folded, according to the reported specifications.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy

The W27 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor.

Samsung pairs the chipset with 16GB of RAM and offers 512GB or 1TB of internal storage. The phone runs Android 17 with Samsung's One UI 9 software.

The hardware is intended to support demanding applications, multitasking and Samsung's AI features.

Triple Rear Camera System

The rear camera setup includes a 200-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Samsung also includes 10-megapixel selfie cameras on both the cover and internal displays.

This arrangement gives users multiple camera options without relying on the cover screen alone for selfies and video calls.

Battery and Connectivity

The W27 houses a 5,000mAh battery and supports 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging.

One notable addition is direct satellite connectivity through China's Tiantong satellite network for supported emergency calls and messages. Availability and service requirements depend on the relevant Chinese network and subscription arrangements.

Price and Availability

Samsung introduced the W27 exclusively for China.

The 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model is priced at CNY 18,999, while the 16GB RAM and 1TB version costs CNY 21,999. Sales are scheduled to begin in China on November 13, 2026.

Samsung has not announced a wider international release.

A Luxury Version of Samsung's Foldable Strategy

The W27 demonstrates how Samsung continues to use its China-focused W-series to offer a more exclusive interpretation of its flagship foldable hardware.

Rather than introducing an entirely different form factor, the company is combining established foldable technology with premium materials, distinctive styling and region-specific features.

For international buyers, the W27 is primarily a look at Samsung's premium foldable strategy in China. Its availability outside that market remains unannounced.
