Google Launches Pixel 11 Series With Tensor G6, Camera Upgrades and New Gemini Features

Google has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone lineup, introducing the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL. The new generation brings updated camera hardware, Google's Tensor G6 processor, expanded Gemini capabilities and several design and charging changes.
The Pixel 11 series was announced on August 12, 2026, and is available for preorder from Google and participating retailers. Google says the phones will go on sale on August 20.
Three models in the lineup
The new range consists of three smartphones: the standard Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and larger Pixel 11 Pro XL.
Google says all three models start with 256GB of storage. The Pixel 11 is offered in Frost, Obsidian, Pistachio and Hibiscus, while the Pro models come in Canyon, Fog, Olive and matte Obsidian.
In the US, starting prices are $899 for the Pixel 11, $1,099 for the Pixel 11 Pro and $1,299 for the Pixel 11 Pro XL. Preorders are open, with retail availability scheduled for August 20. Prices and availability can vary by market.
Tensor G6 powers the new phones
One of the main hardware changes is Google's new Tensor G6 chip.
Google describes Tensor G6 as its fastest and most powerful Tensor processor to date. According to Google's internal testing, the chip provides 25% faster web browsing and 15% faster app launches compared with Tensor G5 at launch.
The company also says Tensor G6 has 50% more TPU compute and can process on-device AI tasks up to 3.5 times faster while using up to 3.5 times less energy in its tested scenarios. These figures are based on Google's internal testing and comparisons with Tensor G5.
The processor is also paired with the latest Gemini Nano model for on-device AI features.
Camera upgrades across the lineup
Camera improvements are another major part of the Pixel 11 generation.
The standard Pixel 11 gets a new larger 48-megapixel main sensor, which Google says provides 56% more light sensitivity compared with Pixel 10. Its 5x telephoto camera also supports up to 30x Super Zoom.
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL receive a new main camera sensor and an upgraded 48-megapixel telephoto camera. Google says the new telephoto sensor provides 30% more light sensitivity and supports Portrait Mode at 5x.
The Pro models can also use Google's Pro Zoom feature at up to 120x, although Google notes that results can vary and the maximum is not available for every camera, application or shooting mode.
Google has also improved Night Sight. On the Pro models, the company says low-light images can now be captured up to 4.5 times faster than before while maintaining the intended image quality.
New Gemini features
Google is putting greater emphasis on Gemini as part of the Pixel 11 experience.
The company says Gemini can handle more multistep tasks across supported applications, with support expanding to more than 40 apps. Pixel 11 also introduces features such as proactive suggestions for calendar events, Maps locations and information that may be useful in Google Wallet.
Another new feature is Rambler, a Gemini-powered voice-input system designed to transcribe natural speech while filtering out filler words.
Google is also introducing sign-to-text functionality in Gboard using technology from Google DeepMind's Sign Language-to-Text model. Availability of these features can vary by country, language and other requirements.
New camera software for creators
The Pixel 11 lineup also introduces several software-based camera tools.
Magic Capture is designed to automatically select important moments from a sequence of frames. Google says the feature can analyze around 400 frames in a typical session and produce a 12-megapixel photo, while also applying edits such as cropping and unblurring.
Camera Looks gives users additional control over the visual style of their photographs. Google offers presets including Natural, Shadows and Vanilla, along with additional looks such as Editorial, Classic and Velvet.
For video creators, Creator Suite adds tools including an on-screen teleprompter, project folders and Storyboard for arranging and trimming clips.
A thinner camera bar and brighter Pro displays
Google has made some physical changes to the Pixel design as well.
The camera bar on the Pixel 11 is 40% thinner than on earlier base-model Pixel phones, according to Google. The phone also has an Actua display and a satin metal frame.
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL feature Google's brightest Super Actua displays, reaching up to 3,600 nits under Google's specified testing conditions. The Pro models also receive a new anti-scratch coating that Google says provides more than twice the scratch resistance of the previous generation.
All three phones have an IP68 rating when they leave the factory, although Google notes that water and dust resistance can diminish over time and that the phones are not drop-proof.
Faster charging and PixelSnap
The Pixel 11 lineup supports faster charging, with Pixelsnap built in.
Google says the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro support Qi2.2 wireless charging at up to 25W. The Pixel 11 Pro XL can provide up to 15 hours of battery life from 15 minutes of wired charging under Google's specified conditions using its 45W USB-C charger.
Charging performance can vary depending on the charger, conditions and usage.
HiLight comes to the Pro models
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL introduce HiLight, a notification system built around LEDs near the camera flash.
Rather than relying entirely on an illuminated display, HiLight can use colored lights to communicate certain notifications. Google says the system can indicate when Gemini is listening, thinking or responding, while users can assign colors to selected contacts for incoming calls.
Google says additional HiLight capabilities, including message notifications from selected contacts, are planned over time.
Seven years of updates
Google is continuing its long-term software support strategy with the Pixel 11 series.
All three phones receive seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL also include six months of Google AI Pro, subject to Google's offer terms and eligibility requirements.

The Pixel 11 series is now available for preorder in markets where Google is selling the devices.

The bigger picture
The Pixel 11 generation continues Google's strategy of combining custom hardware with its Gemini AI platform. Rather than relying on a single headline specification, the new lineup focuses on several areas at once, including cameras, on-device AI, software assistance, charging and long-term updates.
The practical differences between the three models will largely come down to display size and Pro-specific features, camera capabilities and pricing. As with previous Pixel generations, the availability of individual AI features and services can vary depending on market, language, age and subscription requirements.
For buyers considering the new lineup, the Pixel 11 offers Google's latest core Pixel hardware at the lowest price of the three, while the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL add higher-end displays, expanded camera capabilities and additional Pro features.
